Milo Hanson BuckPlan that perfect Fishing Trip To Saskatchewan, or the a Hunting Trip of a Lifetime In Saskatchewan or Canada. The dream of fishing the clear waters of  Saskatchewan and catching a World Record Walleye like the one from Tobin Lake or a legendary Slough Shark (Northen Pike) is going to come true. That new Saskatchewan World Record Whitetail, a little bigger than Milo Hansen’s Buck, has your name written on it and is waiting for you to take aim and fire.

Saskatchewan World Record 18.3lbsYou scrimped and saved and found a willing partner or group to come with you on this trip. Under this heading you will find tips and information to help you plan for that trip. Customs and Border Crossings, what to personally pack for that fishing trip to Saskatchewan, rules for equipment, gear and firearms. Finding an Outfitter, guide and Lodge to help you and stay at while in pursuit of your trophy. Are you going on a fly-in or outpost adventure? Do you have or know which licenses you will need?

Provincial Licenses: Know The Regulations because no matter where in the province you decide to hunt or fish in, if you are over age 16, you will need a Provincial current fishing license and over 12 you will need a hunting license. Before going hunting or fishing make sure you at least know the most important regulations for Fishing in Saskatchewan, Hunting Big Game in Saskatchewan or Hunting Game Birds in Saskatchewan. Make sure to read the current Anglers Guide and the Hunters & Trappers Guide for complete rules and regulations in the province.

Customs: If you are not from Saskatchewan you will have to come through Customs at some point to get to your final destination. If you fly in by International Airlines you need to know their destinations and what connecting flights to get to your final destination. If you plan to drive up you will need to know where the Border Crossings are for both Saskatchewan & U.S. sides of the border. If you plan to bring your Guns with you, Declare All Firearms at the border. You came to Saskatchewan to get some game be it fish, birds or big game you will want to Take Your Game Home with you and yes there are now the customs on importing into your home country to deal with.

Know Your Prey: Saskatchewan has a great bounty of fish and game Get To Know the game that you want to take home, shoot or catch. It is best to visually know what fish or game you can get or are after.  Somehow, every year farmers close or post more land that we hunters can hunt on because a HUNTER accidently shot a horse, head of cattle or left gates open and farm animals escaped.  Please respect the land owner’s rights, they hold the resource and keys for us to hunt, Land Access. Go here to see what Types Of Fish you can catch. Go here to see the Upland Birds and Waterfowl found in Saskatchewan. Go here to see what Big Game Animals you can hunt.

Plan Your Trip: You’ve been here before, You’ve heard about the trip your friend took enough times, You’ve decided this year YOU are going to take that Trip Of A Lifetime. Now all you need to do is Prepare a Trip Plan. You have to decide if you are going to do a Do It Yourself Fish/Hunt, do a Fly-in Outpost/Wilderness Camp Trip,  do the Light Housekeeping Plan, Use the service of a guide in a Full American Style Plan or really splurge and take the All Incluseive Plan do it all for me full service trip.  It’s great to take a trip but are you coming by yourself, with a buddy or part of a small group. If there is more that just you then you will probably have some Camp Rules To Follow, to ensure everyone enjoys the experience.

After you choose a plan type, Do It Yourself trips will have to find a place to stay or all other trips you now have to Choose An Outfitter. The Do It Yourself guys, (fish and waterfowl only) will find great Provincial Park Recreation Sites or A Regional Park Sites are usually situated close to or at some of the Province’s best hunting and fishing areas. You can also check out the local Bed & Breakfast Inns or you may just have to settle for a Hotel or Motel Room in a nearby City or town. If you want a cheaper big game hunt without a guide’s services you will have to Choose An Outpost/Wilderness Camp, but these are still under an outfitters licence. If you plan to hunt Big Game or use a Guide to help you catch oodles and oodles of fish, a real trophy fish, or a trophy big game animal you will need to Choose An Outfitter, that has Big Game Tags to fill. All non-resident hunters must use an outfitter. Each outfitter is allocated so many tags based on the size of their operation. Of course that means you have to investigate each outfitter to find the best one to spend your money on, this means you have to Ask The Outfitter Questions. A lot of the information is now found on the internet and almost all Outfitters have a website and you can find a lot of them listed on this site, use the Find A B&B, Find A Outpost Camp, Find A Hotel, Find An Outfitter, Find A Lodge, or Find A Resort Tabs or  to make it a little easier for you I can Help a little.  Fill in the Find A Trip Form under Choose Outfitter Tab, and I will forward this basic Information to each of my advertisers, that way they will contact you instead of you contacting them.

Hey you’re doing great at this plan a trip thing, but know you probably are asking What Is Usually Included? We are going to Do It Yourself fish/hunt, so now What Do We Need For Gear and Food? We are using an outfitter so now What Gear and Food Do I Bring? My trip is going to be this long so What Personal Items Do I Bring, clothes and supplies? We’ve planned this great fishing trip but What Fishing Items Do I Bring for fishing rods and tackle?

Going on a fishing trip to Canada a fishing trip to Saskatchewan, or a hunting trip to Saskatchewan for most this will be the trip of a life time. Do not let it be ruined at the border, or forgetting to bring items. Oh, and don’t forget the camera.  The scenery here is spectacular.Remember, one picture is worth a thousand words! So, how many words are you going to capture while you are here.
