Rods and Tackle
From living and fishing in Saskatchewan below are the essential items you will want or need while fishing in our Province of Saskatchewan. I live in the northern central part of the province South of Prince Albert and east of Saskatoon. In this area I can be loaded, drive to, unload and fishing within 10 minutes of my home for walleye, perch and pike. All the items below I carry and use when I go fishing here and are a good place to start while planning your fishing trip to Saskatchewan.
Put your fishing rods in a hard case.
Either purchase a hard tube or rod case or build your own Rod tube. Get a piece of 4" PCV pipe about 2" longer than your folded down rod, 2 cap ends, glue one end solid, put other cap on and drill 4 holes through(one on each side) and put a large screw in or small lock. Pack your rods in this without reels on them to protect it. Put the reel in your tackle box. Airline handlers are NOT very carefull.
Plan what you are going to bring for tackle and gear on a Fishing Trip or fly-in fishing trip to Saskatchewan, for most fishermen, will be the trip of a life time, do not let it be ruined at the border, or forgetting to bring items. Oh, and don’t forget the camera. The scenery here is spectacular. Remember, one picture is worth a thousand words! So, how many words are you going to capture while you are here.
